
Each of these categories maxes out at rank 20, and there is no level cap, so you could theoretically max every stat to twenty. It’s an easy-to-understand system with numbers that never suffer from the wild inflation that you typically find in the genre. The skill tree is rather basic and is broken down into four different groups, with two sub-categories in each. No matter what weapon you have equipped, you have an unlimited supply of ammo, and the only real worry is how quickly each one can reload. To be clear, there is no scrounging for ammo, as you have no default attack other than shooting. Ammo is limited to how many rounds you have in each gun until you must reload. You have two main weapon slots, along with a tactical one that can range from various powerful grenades to stationary turrets and even calling in a Mech suit.

Thankfully, this can be done for free at any time by visiting a Grafter in town. Various new cosmetic items are unlocked through gameplay as random drops, and by the end, I had a decent amount of items to go through to change things up when I felt bored of my current cyberpunk aesthetic. Things are kept to male or female with a small number of options for changing your overall look. The game starts off with a fairly simplistic character creator. You will want to mainline the campaign to start though, as you need to get 4 or 5 hours in before you truly see the breadth of options that are in store for your character. This is not a full-on looter as there is a limited number of items for each slot, though I found the variety to match perfectly with a title that wasn’t trying to be a “forever game” in the vein of Diablo or P.O.E. From the way dialogue interactions work in co-op, where whoever initiates it gets the main view and the others can see text floating above the NPC, to the simple to understand build system. Every part of this game feels well thought out. Every item that drops goes in everyone’s inventory, whether it is money, guns, armor, or the other various pickups you’ll come across. Up to four players can team up in cooperative play, and the setup for it is perfectly realized. Over the course of 15+ hours, you are tasked with stopping rival corps from destroying your home, keeping your home from destroying itself, and trying to figure out just what happened to The Ascent Group.

Lost and Found and The Stash are two such quests, and they both give you ample rewards for your time. The Ascent has plenty more quests to throw your way, not all of which are easy to figure out. Stasis Stomp launches enemies and applies Stasis, making it a fun and practical skill. Report back to Beezelchek to get your reward: 2,200 XP and the Stasis Stomp Augmentation. They don’t have to be defeated simultaneously, so there’s a fair bit of freedom in how you approach the objective. Whatever your method, you can use Stasis Overcharge on any 10 enemies to complete the quest. Some other augmentations inflict Stasis, but the Drone is the easiest and earliest way of applying the effect. Stasis Overcharge occurs when you deal excessive damage to enemies afflicted with Stasis, and the accumulated force makes them explode. Stasis immobilizes foes, and they take higher damage while in this state. The Stasis Drone is a tactical item that applies a stasis charge to a wide field, making it easy to deal with multiple enemies at once. If you don’t have the cash, take on some other side quests first, such as the Anabolic Express and then come back.


Head to the Cyber Vendor in Cluster 13 and buy the Stasis Drone for the steep price of 22,000 Ucred. The Ascent Double Charge | Stasis Overcharge He asks you to defeat 10 enemies using Stasis Overcharge, a status you might not have encountered yet. There’s also a quest indicator over Beezelchek’s head, so he’s a bit hard to miss. He’s a scientist living in Cluster 13, west of the Cluster 13 map marker and northeast of the Rooftops marker.
